About Us

Our aim is to provide friendly, personal health care which combines the traditional values of General Practice with evidence based modern medicine, and we welcome new patients to the surgery.

If you wish to register you can do so on-line, or by calling into the surgery and completing the appropriate forms.

We are always looking to improve our services so please fill in our patient survey or leave some feedback on our contact details page or our Facebook page.

Our Primary Care Network

North Dartmoor Primary Care Network The practices in the network are Okehampton Medical Centre, Chagford Health Centre, Moretonhampstead Health Centre and, as of 1st August 2020, Blake House Surgery. Our clinical director is Dr Emma Chapman, GP partner at Okehampton medical Centre.

We work together to try to improve services for all of our patients by working with local healthcare partners as well as community, voluntary and statutory services.

We provide additional services for our patients such as a pharmacist, social prescribers (see information poster to the right), first contact physio service and a free counselling service for our patients. We also provide Improved Access evening and weekend appointments to all the PCN patients.

If you are interested in being referred to one of our additional services please contact your practice in the usual way.

Clinical Teaching and Training

We are a GP training practice and we will be hosting GP registrars as part of their speciality training. GP registrars are fully qualified and registered doctors with the GMC. GP training is a 3-year course involving rotations in hospital medical specialities and attachment to a GP surgery placement.

This is a wonderful opportunity for the practice to show our trainees the rewards of working in a small rural surgery and I hope that you will extend your warmest welcome to them. To allow trainees to familiarise themselves with the working of the practice they will shadow GP clinics – please let our reception team know if you would prefer an unobserved consultation.  You will also be invited to book into registrar clinics and I hope that you take up this opportunity for our trainees learning.

You can see who our current Registrar is by clicking on our staff page.
