The Blake House & Dr Gwynne Trust League of Friends (Patient Participation Group)

Charity No : 1072102

The Blake House League of Friends is a charitable trust set up in 1977, raising funds and accepting donations to provide diagnostic equipment for the practice, which would not be funded by the NHS.

Following a Government initiative in 2011 to help strengthen the relationship between patients and practice, the charitable trust is now known as The Blake House & Dr Gwynne Trust League of Friends (Patient Participation Group).  The Group deals with:

  • Patient support
  • Feedback
  • Future developments
  • Fundraising.

The Blake House League of Friends merged with the Dr Gwynne Memorial Trust in 2020, with the same objectives.

If you have any suggestions, or would like to become a member of the Group, please ask for details at Reception, or contact a member of The Blake House & Dr Gwynne Trust League of Friends (Patient Participation Group).

Everyone is welcome to our meetings, which are generally held every three months

at Black Torrington Village Hall.  Advance notice of meetings is widely publicised.

Volunteer Patient Transport Service

We can provide transport to surgery and hospital appointments, along with prescription collection and delivery.

Please note - Mileage is chargeable at 45p per mile on completion of the entire journey.  The fee is a cash payment by the patient to the volunteer driver.  This fee covers fuel and running costs for the total mileage covered by the driver when they leave and return to their home address.

Waiting time is donated by the volunteer driver.

Drivers are all DBS checked and we are always looking for new drivers for this worthwhile volunteer role.

For more information please contact Garry Nash on 07836 522960, leave a text or voice message with your name and telephone number, and he will return your call.
